History
Cecil Sandberg started the Sandberg Funeral Home in 1935 on S. University Ave. in Blackfoot. In the 1950's Dean Hill began working for Sandberg Funeral Home and in 1965 he purchased the funeral home from Cecil and it became known as the Sandberg - Hill Funeral Home. In 1990, Perry Hawker joined Dean Hill as a partner and in 1995 he purchased Dean's interest in the funeral home. The name became Hawker - Hill - Sandberg Funeral Home. In 2002 Perry Hawker purchased the existing Tabernacle/Civic Auditorium at an auction with the original idea securing his interest in large parking lot at the Civic Auditorium that the funeral home had used for decades for overflow parking. The decision was made to restore and remodel the old Tabernacle into a Funeral Home. This also gave the building a chance to remain intact and preserved as the historic landmark to continue to serve the community. Since the remodel was completed in 2004 the business has been known solely as the Hawker Funeral Home
