Native Hawaiian Student Services (NHSS) is a comprehensive program at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa that provides culturally respectful and academically competent support and advising services to Native Hawaiian students. NHSS aims to prepare Hawaiian students to become leaders who can contribute to the thriving future of Hawai'i by building upon a legacy of excellence and embracing their Hawaiian identity.
With a focus on strengthening Hawaiian research and empowering the lāhui (community), NHSS offers various programs and services that foster leadership, life balance, and community among its students. Through co-curricular learning experiences, NHSS encourages Hawaiian students to continue their intellectual genealogy and collaborate with over 100 Hawaiian faculty members on campus. NHSS is committed to creating a Hawaiian place for learning, promoting the learning of Hawaiian language and studies, and recognizing the kuleana (responsibility) to honor indigenous traditions and promote social justice for Native Hawaiians.
