Founded in 1987, Hawaiian Humane Society is an animal welfare organization that supports and promotes the human treatment of animals. It employs more than 60 staff members who treat sick animals and train pets. The society serves as a shelter and provides temporary care for lost and homeless animals of all kinds. It also raises public awareness about the proper care and feeding of animals. The society supports inspection, enforcement and upgrading of pertinent laws governing the use of animals in research, testing and teaching. Additionally, the society conducts character education workshops for teachers and students. Hawaiian Humane Society is located in Honolulu.
