History
The Hawaii Law Enforcement Federal Credit Union was originally formed in 1937 as the Honolulu Police Federal Credit Union by a group of police officers. The goal was to create a financial institution to serve the unique financial needs of the employees of the Honolulu Police Department and their families. In order to bring our unique services to more of Hawaii's law enforcement community, the decision was made to expand our field of membership in 2009. This first expansion allowed the employees of the Hawaii, Maui, and Kauai county police departments and their families to join our ohana. To embrace our expanded field of membership, on September 1, 2010, the Honolulu Police Federal Credit Union became the Hawaii Law Enforcement Federal Credit Union. Today we have become a full-service financial institution with assets of over $150 million, over 14,000 members, and a broad range of products and services tailored to meet the unique needs of our law enforcement community.
