Wheeler Correctional Facility, founded in 1998, is a medium security organization that houses males in Georgia. The facility includes more than 1,500 beds. It holds an annual blood drive with the Red Cross Society. The facility donates vegetables to nursing homes and needy families. Wheeler Correctional Facility also participates in summer reading programs at public library in Alamo in Georgia. In addition, the facility manages a medical department. It is operated by Corrections Corporation of America, which specializes in the design, construction, expansion and management of prisons, jails and detention facilities. The organization offers inmate transportation services through its subsidiary, TransCor America.
