Walton Regional Medical Center is the only hospital in Walton County. One of the largest employers in the county, WMC is accredited by the Joint Commission and is a member of the Georgia Hospital Association. The hospital has 77 licensed bed facilities and and participates in Medicare and Medicaid programs. There are 125 physicians on staff. It provides general medical and surgical care for inpatients and outpatients, as well as round-the-clock emergency room services. It also has ER Extra, which makes the current wait time in the emergency room available for access online. The hospital also has an ambulatory care unit, blood gas lab, cardiac stress testing/EKG, critical care unit, diabetes management services, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, nuclear medicine, rehabilitation services, respiratory therapy, sleep study lab and a women's and children's center. A new facility is currently under construction at a separate campus on West Spring Street in Monroe.
