Home to a visitors center containing historic displays and facts about the area and Lake Allatoona, the Project Management Office also oversees the operations and maintenance of the dam, which visitors can view from an overlook at the facility.
Visitors can also pick up information about recreation opportunities on Lake Allatoona, including Corps-operated parks and trails. Corps facilities, such as picnic shelters, can be reserved at this office in addition to annual pass purchases and special events permits.
Laurel Trail, an easy hike spanning 0.7 mile, trailheads at the facility. It traverses a mixed pine and hardwood forest overlooking the Etowah River Valley and ends west of the Cooper Branch day use areas.
