Stone Mountain Park is a state authority park and a major tourist attraction. Sitting on 3,200 acres and centered around Stone Mountain, the park offers activities and entertainment year-round, including laser shows, camping, golf, festivals, boat and train rides. An adventure course is also a feature of the park. For those more interested in getting away from the crowds, the park has 15 miles of wooded nature trails. There is a 10-dollar parking fee, paid when entering the park. A year-long pass costs $35. A cable car takes visitors to the top of the mountain for a grand view of the Atlanta skyline and the surrounding area. There is a 1.3-mile path to the top for those who are thrill seekers.
