Founded in 1888, Sheltering Arms is one of the oldest child care centers in Georgia. The organization serves more than 3,600 children in the age group of six weeks to five years. It serves families of diverse socio-economic and ethnic/racial backgrounds, including children whose tuition is partially/fully subsidized through scholarships. In addition, Sheltering Arms provides training, technical assistance and curriculum resources to child care centers through the Sheltering Arms Georgia Training Institute. The organization conducts its instructional/educational programs upon the principles set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
