Founded in 1972, Rockbridge Elementary offers classes from pre-K through fifth grade. The Title I school's motto is "Rocket to excellence with a can-do attitude."
Once a month, students participate in a club day. Parents and volunteers teach a specialty—in chess, math, art, dancing, sewing or science, for example—and the children may choose the club to which they'd like to belong.
The highlight of the school's year is a PTA-organized African-American Festival, with all sorts of activities for kids and adults.
The school offers the YMCA Prime Time after-school program.
The principal is Sadie Scott.
