Founded in the early 1900s, Redan Elementary offers classes from pre-K through fifth grade. A Title I school, Redan stresses parental involvement in educating its students, offering workshops for parents in testing, homework assistance and parenting skills. Parents are asked to volunteer 10 hours of service to the school each year, with five of those hours pertaining to the core curriculum.
After-school tutorials are available for students who aren't progressing as expected, and mentoring programs are also available. Redan has a rigorous reading program, requiring each student to submit a book report regularly. It has an accelerated reading program starting in the kindergarten class.
The school has a wellness plan to help its students eat healthy foods. Uniforms are required.
Redan offers an after-school program and a summer camp.
