Originating at Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga., in 1852 under the title Philomathean Society, Phi Mu adopted its current Greek title in 1900. On April 28, 1921, Phi Mu became indoctrinated as UGA's first sorority. As philanthropic members of society, Phi Mu hosts events in support of the Children's Miracle Network. With an annual golf tournament and other fundraisers, the Alpha Alpha chapter of Phi Mu is the second largest financially contributing chapter nationally. Using the motto, "Les Soeurs Fideles" or faithful sisters, members of Phi Mu remain dedicated to high ethical character, education, sisterhood and giving to the community.
