Established in 1987, The Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia, also known as the Gas Authority, is one of the largest nonprofit natural gas joint action agencies in the United States. Based in Kennesaw, Ga., the company serves around 78 members in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. The company's members meet the gas needs of approximately 250,000 customers. The authority was formed by an Act of the Georgia General Assembly to assist Municipal Members. It offers numerous services, including capacity management, supply/capacity planning, risk management assistance, promotions/communications, report preparation, system manual maintenance, to name a few.
