Dr. Miguel Tan is a multi-organ transplant surgeon. He serves as the surgical director of kidney and pancreas transplantation at Piedmont Transplant Institute. Dr. Tan's special interests include pancreas transplantation, live donor/paired exchange kidney transplantation and improving access to kidney transplantation in minority populations. Previously, Dr. Tan was assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Transplantation at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Tan received his medical degree and completed his residency at McGill University in Montreal, Canada as well as a research fellowship in experimental surgery at The Royal Victoria Hospital Research Institute. He completed a clinical fellowship in transplant surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Tan is member of a number of international transplant societies including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, The Transplantation Society, and The International Pancreas & Islet Transplant Association. He also serves on the Scientific Oversight Committee of the Alliance for Paired Donation. Dr. Tan has numerous publications and book chapters on kidney and pancreas transplantation.
