The Georgia Department of Labor, also known as GDOL, focuses on the safety, health and security of workers in the state. The department, established in 1911, is operated by the state of Georgia. It offers a range of support services for job seekers and employers. The department administers a variety of unemployment insurance, employment service and vocational rehabilitation programs. The Georgia Department of Labor also provides work force information for the public and private sectors. It inspects boilers, pressure vessels, amusement parks and carnival rides. The department helps individuals to increase their self-sufficiency. It employs a staff of more than 4,000 people and operates work force development and safety engineering divisions. The Georgia Department of Labor has over 50 local career centers throughout the state.
