Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary, located in Atlanta, GA, is a historically African American institution and one of the twelve theological schools of the Presbyterian Church USA. With a focus on competency-based education, JCSTS offers programs that emphasize theological interpretation, interculturality, faith community formation, worship leadership, and community transformation.
Through their various certificate programs, such as the Drum Major for Justice Certificate in Public Theology and the Lead Change program in Community Faith Formation, JCSTS equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed for ministry leadership in today's society, while also addressing systemic oppression and white supremacy. Additionally, the Costen Institute provides a collaborative learning environment for clergy, musicians, liturgists, and music leaders to enhance their knowledge and practice of worship and sacred arts. With a commitment to societal healing and repair, JCSTS also offers resources and trainings through the Good Trouble Series, inspired by the leadership of the late John Lewis, to help individuals speak up, speak out, and redeem the soul of America.
