Founded in 1972, the Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs, maintains and improves roads and bridges throughout the state of Georgia. The Georgia Department of Transportation provides Georgia 511, a free phone service that offers traffic and travel information, including traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures and delays due to inclement weather.
