Augusta Eye MD began as a private practice (originally know as Augusta Associates in Ophthalmology) founded by Merritt Welchel, MD. He was later joined by John Bigger, MD who practiced with AEMD until 2006. Stuart Marks, MD joined Dr. Bigger in 1989 and they changed the name to Augusta Eye MD.
