Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, located in Athens, Ga., and established in 1985, provides research in structures and functions of complex carbohydrates. The center has a more than 40,000-square-foot facility for studying the interdisciplinary and equipment-intensive nature of carbohydrates. It has various divisions, including biomedical, plant and microbial glycoscience, and synthetic and analytical chemistry. Complex Carbohydrate Research Center provides various services, such as custom synthesis and compositional analysis of complex carbohydrates, and serves scientists in universities, and industrial and government laboratories. It also offers information on complex carbohydrates derived from animal, plant and microbial sources. Complex Carbohydrate Research Center has a laboratory that offers custom synthesis of oligosaccharides, glycoconjugates and related compounds. The center s nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy facility determines molecular structures of carbohydrates and proteins, and provides investigations into the structural and dynamical basis of protein and carbohydrate interactions.
