The Cobb County Tax Assessor's Office is run by a five-member Board of Tax Assessors, which is responsible for setting the value of all taxable property in the county each year. Following state law, state consitutional provisions and rules and regulations of the Georgia Department of Revenue, the appraisal staff determines property values based on analysis of recent sales and other market conditions.
As the current director and chief appraiser, Phillip Y. Hogsed Sr. is responsible for the day-to-day management of the office.
