Founded in 1941, the Clayton County Library System offers a range of library services and maintains more than five libraries in Georgia. Its libraries feature multipurpose meeting and reading rooms that host educational and cultural activities. The system owns more than 400,000 books, magazines and journals. It also carries over 8,500 audio tapes and CDs and nearly 5,000 videos. In addition, the Clayton County Library System maintains more than 130 public Internet access computers for use by the general public. The system organizes vacation reading programs that include storytelling and crafts activities, movie screenings, and music, magic and puppet shows. It also provides online tutors and issues library cards. The Clayton County Library System is a member of GALILEO, which is a virtual library that offers access to over 100 databases for researchers and students.
