Established in 1893, the City of Cartersville Water Department supplies water to consumers through more than 150 miles of distribution lines. It operates the Clarence B. Walker Water Treatment Plant, which has over 10 sedimentation basins and chemical feed systems. The department also maintains a water pollution control plant that treats wastewater to meet water quality standards set by the Environmental Protection Division of the state of Georgia. The City of Cartersville Water Department has a distribution and collection division that performs daily preventive maintenance for sewer and water taps and provides renewing and upgrading services. Its in-house engineering group offers project management services for construction projects. The department is governed by the City of Cartersville in Georgia.
