Carroll County Water Authority was created with the charge of providing water and wastewater service to the unincorporated areas of Carroll County and surrounding areas in Georgia. The authority provides potable water to both retail and wholesale customers within and around Carroll County and wastewater services to the Fairfield Plantation in Georgia. Carroll County Water Authority provides water at retail rates directly to those residing within unincorporated portions of the county, as well as providing water at wholesale rates to the cities of Temple, Villa Rica and Cleburne County, Ala. There are more than 15,000 retail water customers in the system, with a retail population served of over 40,000, and in excess of 1,500 wastewater customers. A board of directors who are appointed by the Carroll County Board of Commissioners governs the authority. Carroll County Water Authority is headquartered in Carrollton, Ga.
