L.W. Burnett Elementary School was built in the 1950s as a junior high school and was later converted into an elementary school. Third, fourth and fifth graders now enjoy a newly built intermediate playground. Joyce Bass is the school's current principal. The school offers many after-school and extracurricular activities including art, chorus, the Junior Beta Club, the Channel 80 News Crew, the Reading Bowl Team and the T.I.G.E.R. Club.
