Burke County Schools, located in east central Georgia, provides educational and extracurricular opportunities to more than 4,500 students in Burke County. Various schools under the jurisdiction of county include Blakeney Elementary School, Burke County Alternative School, Burke County High School, Burke County Middle School, S.G.A Elementary School and Waynesboro Primary School. The curriculum offered includes math, science, social sciences, English, foreign languages, computer, arts and other extracurricular activities. All schools meet requirements for the Georgia Accrediting Commission and the Georgia Public School Standards and are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Burke County Professional Learning Program is designed to promote professional growth for educators. The courses and workshops are standard in content and may be taken by any teacher, administrator, secretary or other personnel, many are designed particularly for certificated and non-certificated employees in designated positions. The school district is headquartered in Waynesboro, Ga.
