Founded in 1937, Blue Ridge Mountain Electric Membership Corporation is a nonprofit, member-owned Rural Electric Cooperative providing electricity to the Georgia counties of Clay, Cherokee and Union. The company offers residential customers the choice of buying portions of their electricity from the Tennessee Valley Authority s Green Power Switch program. The Green Power Switch program offers power generated by renewable energy sources, including wind, solar and methane gas. In addition to providing electricity, the company offers economic development assistance to businesses and industries, beeper services, dial-up Internet service, Web design and Web hosting.
