Arkansas Managed Care Organization, located in Little Rock, Ark., is one of Arkansas' largest independent statewide preferred provider organization networks. It was established in 1993 through the mutual desire of more than 1,000 Arkansas physicians and the Arkansas Medical Society. AMCO's statewide network includes more than 5,000 providers and it serves as the statewide PPO network for nationally recognized carriers and third-party administrators. It also contracts with self-insured employers, representing more than 200,000 members in Arkansas. AMCO hospitals provide specialized tertiary care services that include behavioral health, burns, cardiovascular care, Level III neonatal intensive care, long-term acute care, neurological and physical rehabilitation services and organ transplants. Additional services in AMCO's network include audiology, home health, home medical equipment, hospice, mental health professionals, occupational therapy, optometry, podiatry and speech therapy.
