History
A curriculum for young children must be developmentally appropriate, foster independence, develop personal responsibility, support language development and engage children in the processes required for life long learning such as decision making and critical thinking. The curriculum for all age groups will use both a skill based scope (milestone developmental skills from sources such as the Georgia Early Learning Standards) as well as an emergent framework in which these skills are embedded. An emergent curriculum is based on the needs, interests, and experiences of the children as well as those of the families, community, and teachers. Collaborative learning experiences help children understand and remember the processes of their learning.
