History
We began in 1981 when Ava White, M.Ed. was the only tutor. She found that there was more demand for help than she could handle personally, so she recruited other teachers to work with these students. She also found out that students needed assistance in subjects like Spanish, SAT or ACT, Geometry or Pre-Calculus. Since her background and training was in Special Education, these were areas which she had no experience or expertise. Ava found qualified teachers to work with students who needed academic support in these general education areas. This is how the business has grown to help struggling students in different stages of their education.
Specialties
The Hybrid High School is a program designed to facilitate instruction in high school courses offered through the Georgia Virtual High School. It is designed to offer a high-quality physical location, monitoring of effort and attention, and ongoing expert teacher assistance for students who are completing online learning courses, but need additional support and oversight. The Wilson Reading System has a proven track record for students who struggle with learning how to read. Not only does this curriculum effectively teach reading skills, it uses reading concepts to reinforce and teach spelling simultaneously. This course of study has proven successful with students diagnosed with language-based learning disabilities, dyslexia, attention deficit disorders, and other learning difficulties. We have seen pupils as young as 6, to students as old as 45 benefit from Wilson program.
