WLYF is a radio station playing contemporary hit music. The station s broadcasts are available through the airwaves and the Internet. Broadcasting on the frequency modulation dial, WLYF has a history in South Florida dating back to 1948 as WWPB. It is also known as 101.5 LITE FM. The station became WLYF in 1969 when it was acquired by Sudbrink Broadcasting. Sudbrink owned the station until 1977 when it was sold to Storer Broadcasting, which operated it from studios in downtown Miami until 1979. Jefferson-Pilot Communications purchased WLYF in 1979, and in 1983 moved the facilities to Northwest Second Avenue in the North Dade region of Miami. Through a merger, Jefferson-Pilot Communications became Lincoln Financial Media in 2006, a subsidiary of Philadelphia-based Lincoln National Corporation that operates radio and television stations throughout the United States.
