About Wine World Chan Cox, owner and proprietor, has been in the wine and liquor business since the early '70s and has accumulated a vast amount of knowledge and experience in all aspects of the trade. We have been recognized as "Best Wine Shop" Emerald Coast Magazine "Best Wine Selection" Independent Florida Sun Newspaper Robert Mondavi once lamented his sales staff's focus on selling "cases" while he was committed to "selling a way of life". Chan has no such lament and has adopted Mondavi's philosophy as our mission statement. We believe this approach sets us apart from other retailers selling "cases" of broad market wines, beers and liquors. To implement and sustain this philosophy we have An experienced and educated staff who will help you make the best buying decision by evaluating your needs and preferences every time you come in the store. Our emphasis is on building relationships and trust, not simply selling products. We have instilled in our staff that "we are only as good as the last bottle of wine we sell". Toward that end, we literally taste thousands of wines, beers and liquors so you don't have to taste the bad ones. To maintain our edge, Chan promotes and fosters professional development among the staff. For example, John Morris and Todd Vucovich are Certified Wine Specialists tested and accredited by the Society of Wine Educators. John has received a Certificate in German Wine and an Expert Diplome es Vins de Bordeaux after being tested and accredited by the German Wine Information Bureau and the Bordeaux Wine School USA, respectively. Chan's Wine World will participate in the Internship Program of Florida State University's Dedman School of Hospitality where John serves as a mentor and regular visiting lecturer. Chan founded and continues an oversight role of the Sandestin Wine Festival entering into its 19th year. John and Todd have both served as judges in the wine competition and Chan, Todd and John are involved in developing the wine auction supporting the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, into a world class event. Chan and John have both served as judges in the wine competition for the prestigious New Orleans Wine and Food Experience. We also have a strong presence of food and beverage experience among our management and consultant staff with restaurant backgrounds. While this list is not complete, it does demonstrate the level of experience, education and accreditation within the organization that exists to train our own staff and provide a high level of service to our customers and the community. Wine Cellar Consultation is available in the construction of wine cellars. We also offer wine strategy and assistance customized to individual needs and budgets.
