History
The UMSHoF was founded in 1966 by 8 Miami Dade Circuit Court judges, all UM alumni. The Tom Kearns Sports Hall of fame Building opened in September, 1989. The Hall of Fame displays thousands of pieces of memorabilia and artifacts that go back to the University's founding in 1926.

Nestled on the Coral Gables campus, the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit corporation whose sole purpose is to recognize those student-athletes, coaches and administrators who have excelled in their sports and brought acclaim to the University through their accomplishments and championships. Displays of artifacts and memorabilia from over 85 years of Hurricanes Athletics can be viewed by Canes fans. The UMSHoF holds its annual induction banquet in April, a golf tournament in October, a bowling tournament in February and a fishing tournament in June.
