The Sunrise Police Department is a public safety law enforcement agency serving the people of Sunrise, Fla. The department has the responsibility to protect life and property, prevent crime, respond to calls for service and enforce city ordinances and state laws. The department promotes resident communication and involvement via a variety of community-based policing initiatives, outreach programs and bicycle patrols. The uniform division is the largest division in the department and includes 75 percent of the agency s officers. It includes the patrol units who provide immediate response and preventive patrols. The division also includes the traffic unit, public service aides, reserve officers, K-9 unit, special details and public information. The detective division investigates crimes against persons and property and prepares case files for the state attorney s office. The division includes the crime scene, evidence and property unit, crime analysis unit, school resource officers, victim advocates, juvenile diversion program and youth service unit.
