Independent Florida Alligator was founded in 1906 as The University News, an independent, student-owned newspaper serving the University of Florida. Located in Gainesville, Fla., it is one of the leading student-run newspapers in the United States, and has daily circulation more than 35,000 copies. The newspaper prints every weekday during the spring and fall semesters, and biweekly during the summer semesters.
