Alafia Village Assisted Living and Memory Care can be found in the woods of the Alafia River in Brandon, Florida. Assisted living is optimized in an Alafia Village suite where residents may opt to participate in social activities or socialize with friends in the community common areas. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furnishings to make their suite their home. Alafia Village respects the privacy and dignity of each individual, yet encourages independence and choices in decision-making. The security of having 24-hour assistance with personal care and medications offers the resident the freedom from worrying about how they will meet their own needs. The Alafia Village's Memory Care Community offers a unique concept to the delivery of care for memory-impaired residents. It provides a safer environment with a higher staffing ratio that allows more interaction and observation of each resident. Its direct-care staff has received extensive education on Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, including information on effective communication techniques and how to deal with difficult behaviors. When the need for short-term rehabilitation is needed or the primary caregiver must be away from their loved one, then respite care at Alafia Village can meet those needs. The individual can receive therapy services, 24-hour personal assistance, and have their spouse and pet come to stay in the comfort of a quiet home-like setting. When residents need end-of-life care, the compassionate care of Hospice is planned with Alafia Village's resident care staff and executed in accordance to the physician, resident and family's wishes. Alafia Village offers a variety of activities such as Bingo, weekly outings, interdenominational church services three times weekly, shopping and family nights. Activities include dance exhibitions, musical performances, intergenerational programs, pet therapy and antique car shows. In thedining room with its vaulted ceiling, Alafia Village offers three nutritious meals a day. The day starts with continental breakfast before serving the hot morning meal. All meals are approved by a registered dietician.
