The Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise is a member of the National Football Conference. Since its inception in 1976, the team has been in the city of Tampa, Fla. The franchise was the NFL Super Bowl Champions for the 2002 season. The Buccaneers, sometimes abbreviated the Bucs, have also made several playoff appearances during that era and earlier in the franchise s history. Lee Roy Selmon and Steve Young are Pro Football Hall of Fame members with ties to the Bucs. In 1998 the Bucs began playing home games at Raymond James Stadium. This was considered the start of the new era for the team that shortly thereafter began to make several playoff appearances.
