The Sunshine Center, run by the city of Saint Petersburg, is a trail blazer and pioneer. It was the first senior center in Florida to be nationally accredited, earning that honor in 2002. Older residents have one-stop shopping at the center, and it houses the offices for Neighborly Senior Services (group dining and Meals on Wheels), Good Life Games (senior Olympics), the AARP Foundations Senior Community Service Employment Program, Lion's Club Eye Clinic, Suncoast Center for Community Mental Health, Kids & Kubs 3/4 Century Softball Club and the St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society.
