SoMa Diner is chef Dave Shiplett's restaurant. He's cooked in California, Longboat Key and Sarasota. There is much to choose from, including appetizers such as portabello and asparagus fries with ponzu dipping sauce; four-cheese mac and cheese with black forest ham and edemame and wok-seared yellowfin tuna tatake with avocado, wasabi vinaigrette and pickled ginger.
Main courses include flounder tempura with shoestring fries, malt vinegar, lemon, basil tartar source; lobster fried rice with almonds, soy beans, lemongrass, spinach, jasmine rice soy and chile;
black tiger shrimp saute with sweet smoked chile butter and creamy cheese grits; and flatiron steak grilled natural au jus, potato cake, with sizzling spinach and onion rings. There are also salads and sandwiches. Enjoy exquisite seafood dishes with a glass of wine. Of course, everything is fresh.
