Open to Scots and non-Scots alike, the Scottish American Society of Dunedin seeks to promote and educate the public on Scottish traditions, including traditional Scottish music and dance. Events include special dinners honoring St. Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland, and Robert Burns, a famous Scottish poet, and the Scottish American Society also provides support for the Dunedin High School and Middle School Pipe Bands and the Dunedin Highland Games. Weekly dancing events are held, and are open to the public. In addition, resources and information are provided to those with Scottish heritage looking to find out more about their families' origins and clans.
