In 1871, Bishop John Freeman Young, of the Diocese of Florida visited what we now know as Daytona Beach. As there had been no other religious services of any kind, the entire settlement turned out. In 1875, Daytona had about 70 people, with no local church building or minister. Bishop Young sent The Rev. Dr. Carter in May of 1877 to form us as a congregation. Our building was constructed in 1883. St. Mary's is Daytona Beach's oldest church. We just celebrated 140 yrs. and we would like to invite you to
