Religious Community Service provides help and hope for those in need throughout Pinellas County. The number of community members in economical crisis tripled in 2010. The Food Bank gets donations from local congregations, and last year they totaled more than 180 tons. With other charities drying up, the Food Bank is becoming an important resource. For a bag full of groceries, you must arrive early before the supplies run out for the day.
Grace House is a shelter for homeless families with children. You can stay for up to two months. However, you must find employment within seven days. The Thrift Store is like going on a treasure hunt. Families moving out of Grace House can choose furniture and necessities from the many selections. The Haven provides safety, support and education about domestic violence. The staff advocates for social change to end the trend to violence. Each new client is assessed based on danger existing in the relationship. For those in immediate danger, there is a 24 hour Safe House.
