Red Hills International Horse Trials, located in Tallahassee, FL, was a beloved community event and one of the top CCI4-S events in the sport of Eventing. Since its establishment in 1997, Red Hills had a strong partnership with the City of Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Department and the Northwest Florida Water Management District, allowing it to run annually in the beautiful Elinor Klapp Phipps Park. With a limit of 220 competitors from around the world, Red Hills attracted over 20,000 spectators each year and relied on the support of dedicated volunteers and key sponsors to ensure its success.
However, due to changes in the sport and the unilateral reorganization of the 2023-2027 Eventing Calendar by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), Red Hills faced financial challenges and uncertainty. The USEF denied Red Hills the CCI4-S Division for the upcoming years, scheduled a conflicting Four Star event on the same date, and dismissed protests filed by Red Hills. These factors, along with escalating costs and requirements mandated by the USEF, led the Board of Directors to make the difficult decision to terminate the event. Red Hills Horse Trials had a strong run and expressed gratitude to the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, sponsors, volunteers, and spectators for their tremendous support throughout the years.
