History
Jax Federal Credit Union was originally founded as a cooperative to serve Federal Employees and their families in 1935. Workers, who wanted to earn a return on their savings, deposited those funds into the credit union. The credit union managed the money and made loans to fellow workers who needed to borrow. Since 1935, Jax Federal has grown substantially, and now offers a full suite of financial products and services to our members. Visit Personal Services to learn more. We remain a cooperative, and the money you save with the credit union is insured through the NCUA to at least $250,000. Fortunately, you no longer have to work for the Federal Government to be a member; you can join Jax Federal Credit Union if you live, learn, work, or worship in our five-county area in Northeast Florida (Duval, Clay, Nassau, Baker and St. Johns Counties). Your first account is a Savings account, which establishes your membership. It's really that easy to join!
