The Pringle family s Scottish heritage has defined the character and personality of every community developed by Pringle Development Retirement Communities. For over 80 years, the Pringle's have been developers and builders. Frederick Pringle came to Lake County, Fla., from Chicago in 1913. He was a member of a consortium that founded Silver Lake Estates, the centerpiece of which was the Silver Lake Country Club. Both are thriving to this day. Fred s grandson, George, and great-grandson, John, founded Pringle Development in 1981 with the help of John s wife, Mary. The first community established after the formation of Pringle Development was Scottish Highlands, which consisted of approximately 650 homes. Riverside, a 77-home, upscale-family community nestled along the banks of Haines Creek, was the next endeavor. The Pringle clan continued the Active Adult Lifestyle tradition set by Scottish Highlands with Highland Lakes, a community of 944 homes set on 540 acres just south of Leesburg, Fla. It featured a 10-acre recreational complex called the Omniplex.
