The Polk County Fire Services Division, commonly called Polk County Fire Rescue, is the fire service branch of the Polk County Public Safety Department, which is part of the Polk County Board of County Commissioners. PCFSD provides fire service for the unicorporated portions of Polk County in Florida through a network of 28 fire stations and a series of interlocal agreements with most of the 17 municipalities in Polk City, Fla. These interlocal agreements exist in the form of automatic aid, mutual aid and contracted service. The division also provides service for Eagle Lake, Polk City and Hillcrest Heights, Fla. In 2005, Polk County Fire Services Division responded to more than 15,000 medical emergencies, 3,500 rescue calls and 3,500 fire calls. Polk County is located in central Florida and has a population of more than 7 million.
