This office hosts the Pinellas County Environmental Management departments of Coastal Management and Water and Navigation Coastal Management helps maintain the county's 35 miles of beaches with long-term projects including shore protection and dune enhancement. Coastal Management also maintains the county's public waterways and boating zones. Water and Navigation oversees permitting docks and dredge and fill projects throughout the county to fit the Pinellas County Water and Navigation Code. These types of projects include private single family docks, multi-use docks, commercial docks, marinas, seawalls and all dredging or filling in county water. The division also handles the county mangrove trimming programs in accord with the Pinellas County Mangrove Trimming and Preservation Code. Water and Navigation also maintains the waterway navigational signs and markers and helps work to remove derelict vessels.
