The Ometeca Institute, founded in 1989 and based in Saint Petersburg, FL, is a non-profit organization dedicated to exploring the connections between humanities and science. Through their scholarly journal, Ometeca, publications, workshops, and conferences, the institute aims to generate theory and probe the interrelationships of humanities and science in Hispanic, Spanish American, Peninsular, U.S. Latino, and Luso-Brazilian literatures and cultures.
After 34 years of operation, the Ometeca Institute has decided to close down at the end of 2023, marking the completion of their long-standing project. With 25 volumes of the Ometeca journal published and 14 conferences sponsored, the institute has made significant contributions to the academic exploration of the humanities and sciences. They express their gratitude to all supporters and participants and wish them the very best in their future endeavors.
