Oluwaseun O. Akinduro, M.D., is a fellowship trained Neurosurgeon specializing in Complex Spine and Spinal Oncology. He serves as the Director of Spinal Oncology at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Akinduro completed medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and then completed his neurosurgical training at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He then completed a Complex Spine and Spinal Oncology fellowship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Akinduro runs a basic science laboratory focused on finding targeted therapies for patients with spinal cancers. His clinical and research interests are: drug delivery techniques for spine tumors, chordoma treatment, minimally invasive techniques for treatment of degenerative spinal conditions as well as spinal tumors, robotic spine surgery, awake spine surgery, endoscopic spine surgery, lateral approaches to the spine, and stabilization techniques for craniocervical junction disease.
