History
Naples Backcountry Fishing was founded by Capt. Kevin Merritt nearly 20 years ago after a career as a fishing and hunting guide in his home state of North Carolina. Capt. Kevin's passion for fishing began in his childhood fishing with his father and brother. His love for the outdoors led him to pursue his education in environmental studies which included a semester at UC Santa Barbara studying coastal land use. He became a fishing guide to share the experience of the outdoors and spends more than 200 days on the water. Naples Backcountry Fishing clients often fish with tackle created by Capt. Kevin including custom rods, soft plastics, jigs and flies. Today Naples Backcountry Fishing can count anglers from all over the world as clients, including several prominent celebrities from beginning level to the championship-level. From small children whose parents want to share the mastery of nature with them to lifelong fishermen, Naples Backcountry Fishing tailors each charter to suit that
