Jessen Jacob, M.D., is an inpatient cardiologist at Baptist Health’s Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. Dr. Jacob specializes in diagnosing and treating complex cardiovascular diseases, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and heart failure, as well as preventive cardiology. He has advanced specialized training in cardiac imaging using transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac CT, and nuclear cardiology. Prior to joining Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute in 2021, Dr. Jacob worked as a noninvasive academic cardiologist, including a previous academic appointment as assistant professor of medicine and radiology at the University of Florida. Dr. Jacob holds a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University, where he expanded his knowledge of research study design, epidemiology and biostatistics. After his fellowship at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Jacob completed additional training in advanced cardiovascular imaging at the Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center in Houston. During this time, he trained with world-renowned cardiovascular imaging experts in valvular heart disease, 3D imaging, strain imaging, structural imaging, cardiac CT and nuclear cardiology. His research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed medical journals in the field of cardiology. He also serves as a reviewer for peer-reviewed publications, serves on national committees and has presented at multiple national conferences. Dr. Jacob was inspired to become a cardiologist at an early age when his father was diagnosed with coronary artery disease. His approach to patient care is to provide a personalized, evidence-based, multidisciplinary treatment plan to address each patient’s underlying health issue. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Jacob enjoys traveling, learning about different cultures, spending time with family and friends, and reading.
